Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood' A variety of palm maple with moderate growth force and bushy, sometimes rounded habit. After 10 years it grows up to approx. 5 m high and approx. 3 m wide. Blooms in May, flowers are small, yellow. The main decoration, however, are dark maroon, deeply cut leaves that maintain this color throughout the year. Just before falling, the leaves slightly brighten to an intensely red color. It prefers fertile, well-drained, moist soils, and sunny or semi-shaded, sheltered positions. Young specimens require covering for the winter. Recommended for Japanese home gardens, in exposed positions, or as an element of colorful compositions.
