Acer palmatum 'Pixie' A variety of the slow-growing palm maple with a compact, bushy habit. After 10 years, it grows to approx. 1.8 m in height and approx. 2 m in width. It blooms in May. The main decoration, however, are dark red, deeply cut leaves that maintain this color throughout the year. Just before falling, the leaves lighten slightly to a fiery red color. It prefers fertile, well-drained, moist soils, and sunny or semi-shaded, sheltered positions. Young specimens require winter cover. Recommended for Japanese home gardens, in exposed positions, or as an element of colorful compositions.
