Acer palmatum 'Atropurpureum' A variety of palm maple with a slow growth rate and bushy, with time a rounded habit. After 10 years, it grows to approx. 2 m in height and approx. 1.5 m in width. Dark maroon, deeply cut leaves, which maintain this color all year round, have the greatest decorative value. Just before falling, the leaves slightly brighten to an intensely red color. It prefers fertile, well-drained, moist soils, and sunny or semi-shaded, sheltered positions. Young specimens require covering for the winter. Recommended for Japanese home gardens, in exposed positions, or as an element of colorful compositions.
