Acer palmatum 'Hupp’s Red Willow' (sym. Hubb’s Red Willow’) A variety of palm maple with moderate growth force and a bushy, slender, delicate habit. After 10 years, it grows to approx. 2 m in height and approx. 1.8 m in width. It blooms in May. The main decoration, however, are deeply cut, jagged, narrow leaves: dark burgundy in spring and summer, in autumn the color changes to fiery red-orange. It prefers fertile, well-drained, moist soils, and sunny or semi-shaded, sheltered positions. Young specimens require winter cover for the winter. Recommended for Japanese home gardens, in exposed positions, or as an element of colorful compositions on moors.
