Magnolia 'Purple Platter'

A variety of magnolia that forms a large shrub or a short tree with a low-branched, bushy form. Blooms profusely at the turn of April and May, before the leaves develop. Flowers of a rounded shape, 20-30 cm in size! The color of the petals is shaded on the outside, from dark pink at the base, getting lighter at the edges, with a visible pink stripe in the center of each petal, white inside. Reaches 5-6 m in height after 10 years. Moderate frost resistance (up to zone 6). It grows best in places sheltered from the wind, in sunny positions. It needs a fertile, moist, humus-rich soil with a slightly acidic reaction. In winter, the root system should be protected by covering. Year-round mulching is beneficial. Recommended for medium-sized home gardens and parks.
