A variety of magnolia that reaches the size of an medium-size tree with a pyramidal shape. Moderate growth rate. Reaches about 5 m in height after 10 years. Blooms profusely in May, in the same time with the development of leaves. The flowers are quite large, about 20 cm, in tulip shape, giving off a delicate fragrance. The color of the petals is dark pink with a purple tinge, white inside. The variety shows quite good frost resistance (up to zone 6). It grows best in sunny places, sheltered from the wind. It needs a fertile, moist, humus-rich soil with a slightly acidic reaction. In winter, the root system should be protected by covering. Year-round mulching is advantageous. Recommended for medium-sized home gardens and parks.
